"Killing fleas on kittens can be a challenge, first of all fleas are a very serious problem on kittens. If it's eight weeks old or younger, it can have a lot of fleas, because of, the mother could have fleas, or they could be outside and it could have fleas. And I've seen serious problems of fleas, who are just sucking too much blood, and the kittens can get very anemic just by having too many fleas on them. Unfortunately the products that are very useful to have in older carts, using Advantage or Frontline or Revolution, all these different products. Many times you can't use on cats that are younger than twelve weeks of age. So you're stuck, what are you going to do? One of the things you can do is, you need to well, three things you have to be aware of. There's, get the fleas off the kitten, get it out of the bedding and then prevent more fleas from coming in. So one of the simple things you can use is a flea comb, to actually try to get the fleas off the kitten. And this won't get all of them but it'll get quite a few, especially if there's lots of, lots of fleas on a cat, you can get them off using a flea comb. Just be very gentle because the young kitten is small and the comb, their hair is usually very thin. What's usually a better idea is more practical to getting all the fleas off, is actually giving the kitten a bath. Using a very mild shampoo, something like Dawn. Sometimes the flea shampoos are actually too much for young kittens and it can become toxic. So just essentially rinsing the fleas off the kitten and trying to kill a few with a soap. They're hard to kill, so just getting all the fleas and all the eggs and larva off the cat, is really important. But then you have to treat the environment, so because you want to prevent it from getting back on again. So once you have a clean kitten, just don't automatically put it back in it's nursing area or in the box. You have to clean, vacuum, and clean out all the area. And then make sure, if it's not an orphan, it's with it's mother, that she is been treated for fleas. And using these products, she can have the, she can be nursing and still have, you'd be using Advantage or the once a month treatment. So treat the kitten, treat the environment, and treat the other cats in the house to get rid of the fleas."
