"Is Advantage safe for cats? The short answer is yes. Advantage is a flea product that is fairly popular and used a lot in cats because it only has to be done once a month, and you just put the drops of the medication, the liquid, behind the shoulder blades of the cat. And it's great. What we used to have to do, as far as fleas, is collars, powders, shampoos, spray the house. It was a nightmare, and talk about the environmental toxicity. The whole house had to be--we used to have bombs and things like that. So Advantage, compared to all that, I've never seen a problem. Topically, maybe a little local reaction, but I really think Advantage is a very safe product. One thing you need to know though, there's another product called Advantix, all right. Advantix is used in dogs, and it's for fleas and ticks. Advantage is only used in cats--it can be used for dogs too, but it's only for fleas. You do not want to use Advantix on a cat because it is for dogs. Even though it is for fleas and ticks, and your cat might get ticks, if you use Advantage because it's only for fleas, but Advantix is not safe for your cat."
