"If you were to find a butterfly chrysalis or a moth cocoon, depending on the time of the year. You'd want to put it in a container, large enough to allow the butterfly or moth to open it's wings and to fly around a little bit, in case you weren't around when it hatched, but when it emerged. So if you find a moth cocoon in the winter time, you'd want to keep it cold until the climate where you are is suitable, to let it go. So typically, when it starts getting warm outside, that's when you'd want to take it and get it warm. You could keep them in your refrigerator during the winter time, but you've got to make sure that there is some moist paper towels or something in there to keep them from drying out too much. The best thing to do is, to put them in your garage or somewhere the temperature is the same as the outside and then you don't have to worry about moisture or checking out, until it gets warm. If you find a chrysalis any other time during the year, you could put it in a container. But be mindful that sometimes there are parasites and other things that come out of those chrysalises. So you may expect a butterfly or a moth and get a bunch of flies or a wasp."
