"Hi I'm Kevin Russell, I'm the volleyball coach here in South Beach, Florida. In this clip we're going to talk a little bit about volleyball tips. I'm going to show you some things that are going to help you. If you're by yourself, you're going to be kind of limited but there's things that you can work on such as having good form and just really being able to control the ball. There's certain things like I'm going to show you basically how to use your hands with a ball. It's one of the hardest things to learn and not everybody can get it but if you really spend a lot of time on it I think you can do it. A set is going to be from up here. The way I like to explain how to extend your hands are to be like Superman. You want to come up with your hands and be like this. You want to just surround the ball with your hands if possible. That way when you get a ball you're touching the whole surface of the ball and when you set a ball you come up and you just want to be Superman, you want to keep extending all the way through and you can just do very, very small controlled things. With your hands just sit here and set and just try to get the ball not to spin at all. If you can do that, you're going to do a lot of good things. The next thing you can do by yourself is maybe do some hitting exercises just to get your arm swing. Basic rules of hitting is you want to have a guide arm, if you're right handed you're going to use your left hand. Extend it all the way as far as you can so you're going all the way across. And when you swing it's like you're reaching for a bow and arrow. You're going to reach for your bow, you're going to come down and you're going to extend all the way through. Now your right shoulder is going to be much higher than your left shoulder. You're going to come down, you're going to swing and you always want to end basically in what we call a J. That way you get a full swing all the way through, OK? The next thing is that you can do is just very small controlled passing. You can use your legs, make sure you use your legs, you want really really good form. And that's just some tips on how to do practicing by yourself."
