"Buenos dias. My name is Priscilla Manserrate-Sanders, and I'm the founder of the Hola School and today I'm going to demonstrate a simple technique for you to learn how to describe your home in Spanish. One simple technique for learning Spanish is to create a body movement, almost like your own sign language, for each word that you're learning. So when you think about your house, think about the things that you see in your house, or that you do in the different rooms of your house, and then as you learn the words, create your own sign language for it. for example, if I want to say "My home," I'd say "mi casa." And to enter the home you have to open the front door, so we have to have la puerta, la puerta. So if I am trying to remember how to say family room, which is sala de estar, I might think of an object that is common in my family room, such as a television, so this would be, la sala de estar, la sala de estar. If I wanted to think of a body movement to help me remember kitchen, I might come up with something that helps me remember what I do in a kitchen, which is cook. La cocina, la cocina. And in a kitchen, I might find el horno, el horno. Or the refrigerator might be, la nevera, la nevera. In the dining room, I might, I might describe it as el comedor, el comedor. Naturally, a bedroom could be la recamera, la recamera or bathroom might be el bano, or, el bano, el bano. To summarize: think of things that you do or see in the different parts of your home that will help call, that will help you memorize the phrases or words that you're trying to learn and come up with a body movement for that word or term. And this will help you to learn, and this will help you to describe your home in Spanish. Thank you."
