"Hi this is Zephyr Clarke-Dalberg with Miami Dog Training in Miami, Florida. Now there is several different training techniques for dogs, and one of them is dog whistle training. A dog whistle is a whistle that is blown, and the frequency is high that often humans can't hear it. At some levels of the frequency they can, but because dogs have such a great sense of hearing they can hear these whistles at great distances. And it works very similar to a clicker or a target in which you are giving the dog a command, and using a sound to pair with that command helps them learn the behavior faster. Because there is a consistent sound that they are basing this command off of rather than a different change in let's say your voice, or a different body language you might use that whistle is a consistent sound that's always going to remain the same. And they can be highly effective a lot of times you will find that they are used with bird dogs, and hunting dogs. However, we don't use clickers, I'm sorry we don't use whistles, but we do use clickers at times or markers. Our voice being one as long as you are giving that consistent sound every time. And the whistles can be a really great training tool. Now there are other training tools out there that have a similar thing like the clickers, and other sound instruments or targeting that you can teach the dogs."
