"Hi, I'm Jean Silva from New York City and I'm the Commissioner of the New York Women Sports League. Let's go play some ball. In this clip we're going to give you some hints on how to pitch Fast Pitch. I will also demonstrate some other variations of the different pitching styles. But in Fast Pitch, the key, the key is simple; it's taking that step as your stance. You want to stand on the mount; the mount is twenty four by six inches; so you want to have your feet balance and be comfortable. Now what you want to do is just lock your hand. This is the position; your three fingers here; your thumb in the middle; pinkie is underneath the ball. And what you want to do is you want to look at your target. You want to drop your hand, bring it around and step and let go, right off your hip. You want to actually hear yourself smacking your wrist and that's how you throw a Fast Pitch; two, three, step and throw. The other style of pitching that we use is called modified where instead of going around, we go back, same hand grip, back, step, and deliver the ball. It's a little slower pitch but it's very accurate and people have fun with it. The third style of pitching is slow pitch where you actually you're standing back some fifty feet and you're tossing the ball up in the air and having the projector of the ball come down to drop right the home plate and that is a technique for batters to get used to, having that ball drop out of the sky and try to hit it. Some of the last advice I can give you on pitching, don't give up. When you first start, you're going to be all over the place but trust me, just keep stepping and throwing that ball; step and throw, that's the key. Look at your target, step, windmill and throw that ball. You will become that pitcher you want to be. This is Jean from New York City. Thank you for watching us."
