"Hello! My name is Adonis Valvis. I'm the owner and coach of Good Times Gymnastics located in Flushing, New York. Basic rule for balance beam routines will be the most important balance. It requires you to stand on the 4 inch width balance beam, 8 feet long and you have to perform particular skill in many, many difficulties, easy ways or hard ways. Balance beam, it's very important, it keeps your body balance, you have to have very strong legs because you can do cart wheels, you can do backward covers, you can do flips over the balance beam. So, it's a very nice sport that requires a lot of concentration and robotic movement, you gotta keep your head straight. Balance beams are always low to low to the ground. The most competitive ones are about 4 feet off the ground. It requires very well balance, everything around the balance beam has to be matted in case of and the student falls down, the gymnast. You can start balance beam at early age, usually in our gym we do we put the kids starting at 1 year old. We put bean bags, we put little rings, we let the kids step over, we let the kids go over and we want to make it fun and excited for the kids to know that balance beam, it's not really scary, it's just a lot of fun and you can see around whenever you lift, every child, whenever he works on the cartwheel will skip their arms out and balanced in."
