"Hi I a, Dr. Mieke Lane, I am an OB/GYN with Cascadia Women's Clinic in Vancouver, Washington. Today I am going to talk to you regarding symptoms of toxic shock syndrome. Toxic shock syndrome is a bacterial infection. The bacteria triggers the release of toxins within your body, and these toxins then go on to cause various medical problems. Some of the symptoms that we may see with toxic shock syndrome include high fevers, nausea and vomiting, body aches, as well as low blood pressure, swelling in your legs or your feet. Sometimes in extreme cases of toxic shock syndrome you can have mental confusion, you can also develop a low urinary output, as well as a rash. Particularly peeling of your skin on the palms of your hands or the soles of your feet. If you discover that you are experiencing any other symptoms you need to be in contact with your healthcare provider."
