"Lipitor is a drug that we use to treat high cholesterol and it does not have an effect on blood pressure. The actual problems with your high cholesterol causing blocks in your arteries can actually contribute to high blood pressure and Lipitor is designed to counteract that. The main thing one has to watch out for using Lipitor for high cholesterol is to make sure that the doctor checks their liver function test and if those liver function test show any signs of elevation then they need to stop the medication and allow those liver flexures which are measured by enzyme levels to return to normal. Lipitors mobilizing the cholesterol so that it does not adhere to the vessel walls and helping to break down any clots or blockages in blood vessels already caused by that by decreasing the concentration of cholesterol in the bloodstream."
