Summary: A stepper motor, or step motor, consists of a permanent rotating shaft and electromagnets on stationary points that surround the motor. Find out how stepper motors work by rotating repetitively to deactivated stators with help from a computer and network administration specialist in this free video on stepper motors.
"Hello, my name's Mark and today I'm going to explain how a Stepper Motor works. A Stepper Motor basically consists of a permanent magnet rotating shaft that's called the rotor, an electromagnets on stationary points that surround the motor. And with this rotor in an active which means we're power born to a active position pointing out one of the stators, the north or south side of the stator will release which moves the rotor clockwise to the upper or deactivated stator. And then this process repeats itself, say there's 4 stators on the outsides of the rotating shaft, when one releases and pushes it, it would rotate to the next one and it would repeat this action. This process is repeated in the same manor to the southwest, northeast electromagnets until you reach the starting point again. And that's how Stepper Motors work."
