"Hello my name is Mark and today I'm going to answer the question what is a DVD decoder. A DVD decoder, there's actually two different types, two basic types of DVD decoders which is the hardware decoder and a software decoder and what a DVD decoder, what it's basic function is, videos are taken and captured and stored in different formats like MPEG2, AVI and so on and so forth. DVD decoders are used in your DVD players at home to decode the different formats of video that's on them to display through your television as well as on your computer, the DVD players on your computer have software decoders through a bunch of different vendors that decode the format to display it properly on your screen. And that's basically what DVD decoders do."
