"Hello, I'm Dr. Loretta Ciraldo, a board-certified dermatologist and author of the book "Six Weeks to Sensational Skin." In this clip, we're going to talk about how to treat rosacea. Now, what you need to remember is that rosacea's actually a skin disease that can have three different components. The two major components would be facial redness and a sensitivity to the sun, and the other component will be acne like breakouts or pimples. The third component which is a lot rarer is a swelling of the nose called Rhinophyma. Now for the first component to the redness, you've gotta be sure that sunscreen becomes your best friend and in fact, if you are someone who has rosacea, we don't want you leaving your house at all without putting some sunscreen on you. Keep it next to your toothpaste and put it on every single morning of your life. This does not mean only days that you're going out to the beach. If you have rosacea, you need your sunscreen. We dermatologists recommend a number thirty or more and you want to really use something that has a little bit of a white-ish color meaning that it has in it either zinc or titanium which are the best ingredients for sunscreen if you have rosacea. The next part of how to treat rosacea is that when you get acne breakouts, you can either ask your dermatologist for a good acne medicine or you can go on-line and look for things. This is a great product that has some sulfur in it and when you have a little bit of an acne breakout, what you're going to do is you're going to use this like a little spot treatment and you're going to put it just on the spots. Typically, products like this which have got a little sulfur and salicylic acid are going to be products that you would be sleeping in at night so that the product itself is not visible to the other people as you go throughout your day. The next thing about how to treat rosacea is that when it comes to the dinner table or to anything that you eat, you want to be very cautious and avoid things like red wine and spicy foods. Thank you, and the best of luck in treating your rosacea."
