"I'm Dr. Jeffrey Epstein of the Foundation for Hair Restoration with offices in South Florida and New York. Let's talk about a hair transplant procedure. The procedure itself is painless and typically takes around 5 hours to perform. Depending on the number of grafts and how the procedure is performed, whether it's by the strip technique versus whether it's by the individual follicular unit extraction technique. The time for a procedure will take anywhere from a shortest 2-3 hours to as long as 8-9 hours. Larger procedures and when I talk about large procedures, I mean as many as 3,000, 3,500 grafts. Those procedures can take as long as 6-7 hours and that's because each graft has to be inserted into very tiny recipient sights throughout the entire scalp. Smaller procedures such as when I'm doing a goatee or an eyebrow or small patch of hair will take a shorter period of time, maybe 2-3 hours but once again these procedures are painless so patients are kept quite comfortable throughout the entire course of the procedure."
