"What we do here, is we will invite a new child, from beginning... if they just all up and decided from watching television that they wanted to try cheerleading, they would come into the gym. We would invite them to do a free trial class for two hours, and they can use that time to sit up at the front and just try to take it all in, or they can come fully dressed out, head to toe, and actually be put in, into the rhythm of things. Now if they come in as a new beginner in the summertime, it's a lot easier to input them into things because it's all skill-building. Once August rolls around, August through April, is repetition of doing the same routine that you've learned. It's only two and a half minutes long, but you'd be amazed how long it takes to get two and a half minutes to look the way that you intend it to. Technology plays a huge part in cheerleading today, and the popularity of all-star cheerleading. You can go on YouTube and put in any popular all-star team, or non-popular all-star team, and something will come up from their division this year, from their gym. An endless amount of hours are spent by kids watching YouTube videos. I have a six-year old who has come in the gym, had a cartwheel last summer, is now doing level five tumbling skills, which is the hardest thing you can do, all because she's watched people do it on YouTube for hours and hours and hours, and she just doesn't think it's hard because she's inundated with information about that. So I guess it's really interesting. You can be as into it as you allow yourself to be."
