"Hi, it's Rokosz, your digital lifestyle expert here answering the question, can you connect your computer to your television? Well you bet you can and it's a great thing to do. Why would you want to do that? Well maybe your want to watch some of the movies you downloaded off of iTunes or off of various other download movie sites. You can use it also as a second monitor if you're working at home, or well could be your TV at work, doing a PowerPoint presentation. You can also use it to be a second computer monitor from time to time. Whatever you want to it, however you want to get it out there, it's possible. Now it may happen through a couple of different protocols and I'll show you exactly how that can happen. One is your computer if it doesn't already have connectors out for your television, and those connectors being a composite video cable or a super video cable or a port in the back of them, that's how you know you can go directly from your computer out. For instance here is a docking station for a Sony VAIO and you can see here it being a multimedia computer that we've got both the composite and the super video and a few other peripheral outs too especially for video. If you're going to a projector or other things, it's all built in here and the theory being you take your laptop, you slap it, lock it in place, lock it in there and then you're ready to have these other things permanently connected so you're not always taking things in and out of your computer. If you're using a Mac, they sell different accessories like this which well look, exactly what we need. The s-video and the composite out. Simply plug it into your computer, it allows this to see it as just another monitor, it doesn't matter that it's a, that it's not rather VGA or whatnot. Make the connection there to the back of your television into your computer and now boom, you're watching in high quality. The other thing is that how good the picture is going out to your television or monitor is going to be dependent on the video card inside of the computer. If it wasn't specifically designed for a lot of those things and you're using it on a very good or big monitor, you're going to find that well both the on screen resolution and the screen out to your TV is going to be compromised, it's going to be, usually they bring this down a little bit and it goes out to the bigger monitor not as crisp as you normally would. Now if you've got a big, if you've got a big desktop computer with a blazing video card, maybe you're a gamer, well you're going to experience a lot better results.
