"Hi, I'm Rick Tobey and I'm going to talk briefly about the history of Rockabilly music. Now, the term Rockabilly is actually a combination of the word 'rock' from rock-n-roll and 'billy' from the word Hillbilly. Now, in the early 40's and 50's, Country music was often referred to as Hillbilly music and so Rockabilly is kind of a combination of rock-n-roll and country music of the time. Some of the famous artists that use the Rockabilly style were Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash and Elvis Presley. In the early mid-50's, they made the Rockabilly music very popular. One of the most popular Rockabilly songs was "Blue Suede Shoes". And, Johnny Cash, his big Rockabilly song was called "Prison Blues" and of course, Carl Perkins had many Rockabilly hits. That's a brief history of Rockabilly Music."
