"Hi, I'm Rick Tobey, and I'm going to talk about how to play the Dobro Guitar. Now, a Dobro Guitar is basically a solid metal, acoustic guitar. As you can see, this body is metal. It's actually nickel plated brass. It's very heavy and it was invented in the 20's, when a lot of the little orchestras, and blues or jazz bands had a horn section , and you couldn't hear the acoustic guitar, because it wasn't loud enough, but this was before they invented amplifiers, so they invented this resonator section, and oftentimes a Dobro can also be called a resonator guitar, and this resonator made the guitar louder, so you could hear it in the band with all the other instruments. It has a very unique sound, and it's oftentimes played with a slide, like this one, a brass slide, and primarily you hear the Dobro used in country music and blues music, so you can hear the very unique tone of the instrument, and that's how you play a Dobro Guitar."
