"Certified financial planners and financial planners in general, come from typically the insurance industry, the securities industry, the mortgage industry that used to be a real state agent and some of them, of course, come from other places but most of the folks that you find want to be financial planners. Start out in one corner of the industry. The reason the financial planning is a vexing problem is that it is encompasses a large general picture of people's financial situation that typically cannot be handled effectively just by a CPA or just by the guy that got my mortgage for me, or just by the Realtor, or just by my stock broker or just by my register rep, or just by my tax accountant. Not, no one of those people can give me the whole picture because the world is full of specialists, and so certified financial planners attempt to become general practitioners. They know a lot about a little, no, a little about a lot. They know a little about a lot. They can't practice law, they understand how to use wills and trusts, why your attorney loves probate and why you shouldn't, things like that. They're taught these good general things. Will they use them? That's a question but learning the stuff is pretty easy to do if you'll apply yourself. But the would, but most people forget it. It's just like, you know, when people study for their insurance license or their securities license, by the time they're done with the taking of Series 6 then they're going to study for the Series 63, okay, by the time they get their Series 63 pass, they forgot what they learned to pass the Series 6 exam, alright? And then you go to take your, I was a branch office manager and you going to take another exam to get you to 26. But the bottom line in thing is what am I going to use in the real world? Am I going to use what's in that CFP stuff? Yes, I am. Can I learn it? Is that the only place I can learn it? No, it's not. The best place to learn it is doing it, okay? And in so, we have that kind of a program where we take people by the hand, teach 'em how to learn the business step by step but they got training wills on because there was somebody like me and they can't goof it up."
