"You know, becoming a firefighter can be a very satisfying and gratifying experience. Hi. I'm Captain Joe Bruni. Have you ever wondered what it takes to become a fireman? It will take a great deal of personal strength and good health. You must be in top physical condition, first and foremost. Now, depending on what department you wish to work for, you may have to obtain a job application first and apply to take a written exam, such as a civil service exam, depending on the area you work in. Other areas of the country will require you to spend your own money and put yourself through training and through school to become certified as a firefighter before they will allow you to apply. Other areas and other departments will require you to also have the basic medical education and training, such as EMT or EMT paramedic. Just depending on where you go to work will dictate on the process. Stop by your local municipal building and ask what the process is to work for the career fire departments to become a fireman. Again, it may be something as simple as filling out a job application and taking a written exam, such as the civil service exam, and then moving on to a physical abilities test. I'm Captain Joe Bruni. Stay safe."
