"You know, there are varying levels of firefighter certification. Hi, I'm Captain Joe Bruni. Have you ever wondered what it takes to become a wild land firefighter? First and foremost, you must receive the training and study fire behavior and chemistry, and tools, to understand what the fire service is all about. You also must obtain your inter-agency qualification card for wild land firefighting, otherwise known as the red card. The red card is a testing process that every wild land firefighter must go through to obtain this card that they carry on them, certifying that they are indeed a wild land firefighter. Take your red card to your local United States Forrest Service, State Fire Service, or Bureau of Land Management, and place your name on the available list. From there, as the fire season get cranked up, they will look at the available list to determine who they will need for wild land firefighting positions in time of need. Remember, this is an on-call position, so you must be available twenty-four hours a day, and you might want to include not only your home phone number, but your cell phone, or pager number. I'm Captain Joe Bruni, stay safe."
