"A tutoring business is not quite as easy as it might seem. You need to be quite organized and you need to be a business person as well as an instructor. One thing about it is that you need to understand where the schools are coming from, as far as what a student needs when they come for tutoring. In order to set up a business, you really need to do some research in the local area. Find out what kind of tutoring is needed; find out the cost of tutoring and what people are paying. It's very surprising to find out how much students have to pay for tutoring in many areas. Whether it's elementary school or an adult situation, you need to be very on target with them and have many ways of showing people how to do things, because if someone is needing a tutoring situation, then what they're saying to you is the traditional style has not reached them, and so you may have to have something that's unconventional, something that's more kinesthetic, something that's more broken down into details."
