"You have recently been looking for deductions for your tax return that you're going to be filing and you've come across gas mileage, and you're wondering if you can deduct your gas mileage and expenditures. Hello! I'm Robert Todd and I'm here to answer the question, can you deduct gas mileage on your taxes? Well, the answer is generally speaking, no. But it is going to depend on your particular job and your particular circumstance. So, the first place you may want to look is the Internal Revenue Code and look to see if you have the type of job that leans itself to deducting gas mileage and expenditures. Failing that, you may inquire of the Internal Revenue Service itself by calling a local Internal Revenue office and inquiring. Failing that, you may want to consider talking to either a CPA or a attorney who is a tax specialist. There are exceptions, for example, if your job requires you to travel outside of the office. In those instances, those individuals can deduct some of their gas mileage and expenditures. But again, it's going to depend on your specific situation. If you are going to do it, you are going to have to keep records. I'm Robert Todd and thank you for watching."
