"According to the Department of Labor part time work is specifically defined as 1 to 30 hours of work per week, anything above that is going to be considered full time and typically we think of full time as 40 hours per week. Part time is going to be sort of a pro rated amount of work and the amount of pay that goes along with that. You could be performing similar duties to full time but you are not necessarily going to be giving that much if you will. Everything again, everything is somewhat prorated as opposed to someone who who works 40 hours a week and works full time. They are going to receive a full benefit package, someone that works part time will sometimes find that they don't receive any benefits or if they do they are not going to receive the same amount as the 40 hour a week employee. Maybe their copays for health insurance are higher. They don't receive as much coverage or things like that or maybe they don't receive specific types of coverage as opposed to the full time employee so everything is going to be somewhat prorated and knocked down due to expenses and other various reasons."
