"A benefit you have about a retail job is you can actually go to the organization, itself. You can go to the retail department. You can see how everyone else is dressed. And what I would suggest doing is mirror your dress for the interview after what the associates of the retail department wear. If it's a polo and khakis, then wear a similar color polo and khakis and the same outfit as everyone else. You may not have the logo on your shirt like they do, but your hiring manager, whoever you sit down with, is going to be able to look at you and visualize what you, as an associate, will look like if you're hired. And this is important. You know, they want to see what you look like, see if you look like you would possibly fit in. And so, I would dress that way. If that's not a possibility, again, you want to err on the side of being conservative, but you want to dress a little nicer. One common thing that I hear is dress like the boss. Dress for the, maybe not necessarily the position that you're applying for, but dress for the position that you may want in several years from now. And that spills even over into once you have the job, you know, how you dress will go a long way into saying what type of person you are. But, retail positions, how everyone else is dressed, is usually a good, safe way to dress for the interview."
