"Hi my name is Bill Rae. I'm with Alumni Financial Services out of Seminole, Florida and I've been in the business in the finance world for over 30 years. Today's topic is how to be a financial planner. That word financial planner has broad meaning in today's environment but how to become one means that the person that wants to become a financial planner must have an understanding of finances and how money moves through America. There's so many ways to become a financial planner. Some of the best ways is to start at your local college. Begin to go take courses on accounting and financing, insurances and various topics like that. Another way is to get into the business. I started over 30 years ago when I first got into the insurance field, that's all I knew. Little did I know that that was become the cornerstone of financial planning. For after all, part of financial planning is insuring what it is that you're putting away. They're tied together. There are courses out there in the professional field that will actually take you to the next level and there's lots of little titles after many, many people's names but to become a financial planner, you need to understand finances first and foremost and you need to understand how they interact with each other. There's too many people out there who can walk around with a nice title but haven't got a clue as to how money flows together. They don't understand that perhaps your health insurance really does need to talk with your life insurance and better yet, are they coordinated with your retirement plans? You see one can affect the other, unfortunately we have too many specialists and very few generalists and more importantly, we need people with good ethics that have been around for a long time. That's my opinion. My name is Bill Rae, I'm with Alumni Financial Services and we've been here to help you build true wealth."
