"Hi I'm Miranda Chook, a CPA. Dividend yield is basically the amount of dividends that a company pays, expressed as a percentage. The calculation would be dividends paid per share, divided by the price per share. And in order to determine if this is necessarily high or low, you would have to compare it to prior periods, as well as to other companies within the industry to really get a better feel for how much your company, how much in dividends your company is paying."
