"Hi there. I'm Steve Carson from Stumptown Disc Golf. We're here at Leverage Park in Vancouver Washington, USA to talk about disc golf equipment. First thing I recommend that you have when you're playing disc golf is good clothing. If you're playing on a nice sunny day, like today, it's a good idea to have shorts and clothes that you're comfortable with. Good shoes to play with, shoes that breathe and keep you nice and comfortable. If you're playing on a winter day and it's raining out, then you want to have clothes that are prepared for the elements. Just think like you're going hiking, and dress appropriately. If you feel comfortable, you'll play much better. The next thing, of course, that you need to have is discs. There's a variety of discs out there on the market that you can play with, and a bunch of different brands out there, but I recommend that you have a disc that's kind of a driver disc, one that'll go through the air. It's going to be a little thinner, a little more sharp on the edge--not to try and hurt anybody--but these discs will fly much farther and hopefully will get you to the target with a few number of throws. The next thing you want is a midrange disc. A midrange disc is going to be a little blunter shaped, but it will fly a lot straighter, and hopefully a little truer for you, and get you that midrange, when you've got like a hundred feet to the basket or less, and you're not quite ready to put, but you need a disc that'll get you towards the basket. Finally, you should have a good putter disc. Putter discs, a lot of them are really flexible. They'll grab the chains and stick into the basket. Once again, a nice blunt edge so it kind of grabs into the disc, and I recommend one that has your local club name right on it, there. Another thing you might want to consider getting is a marker disc. A marker disc is used when your lie is there on the ground. You put your marker disc in front, then you can pick that disc up and throw it again. Marker discs are really cheap, and they're a lot of fun to collect. You can get them with a variety of different names on them and whatnot. A good disc bag is also helpful. You can get a very fancy bag from a variety of manufacturers, spend a couple hundred dollars on it, or just convert something into a bag that you can use to keep a couple of discs in. If you keep your discs organized, you'll be less likely to lose one. Another thing that I always have is a towel with me. If it's raining, like it is here in the northwest a lot, we use towels a lot, but even on a dry day, sometimes the ground can be wet, or your disc ends up in the creek, and you want a towel to keep it dry. I always carry a water bottle with me. Sometimes I carry some snacks... a chair when I'm playing and I know I'm going to be sitting around for a while... whatever your plans, if you have the right equipment, you'll enjoy the game a lot more."
