"Hi my name is Dave Casuto and I am the director of San Francisco Computer Tutors here in San Francisco, California. Entry level computer engineering jobs. Certainly there are many, many to choose from. First place that a lot of people go to is with testing or QA, Quality Assurance. There's white box testing and there's black box testing and depending on your level of expertise, you're going to go into one. Black box testing is going to be a little bit more intense where you're going to need to know a little more programming and white box testing is going to be when you're basically just kind of spot checking things. You're running through a program, you're making sure that that it doesn't break, OK, that's why they call it quality assurance testing. Making sure that when you use the program that nothing is going on with it. So that's part of it and that's a good way to get your foot in the door, you can interact with other programmers, you can learn a lot by doing quality assurance testing. A lot of people start off with database administration or DBAs. OK you're working, you learn things like MySQL, you're learning Access, you're learning SQL which these are all database administration languages. So those are very important to know. And then you can also just do just general web stuff. You can do PHP, ASP, and Perl script and other such of things and these are all related to some web programming and that allows database technology and a lot more interactivity and more sort of dynamic ways of interacting on the Internet. So these are nice entry level things you can get into working with computer programming."
