Video Transcript

"Hi my name is Dave Casuto and I am the director of San Francisco Computer Tutors here in San Francisco, California. So in this video we are going to show you how to detect, monitor, and reduce your CPU fan speed. We can go to a program that will allow you to take care of that. That is a free program called Speed Fan and that is what we are looking at right here. I have found this is the best place to actually get it at filehippo.com/download_speedfan. So what we're going to do is we're going to go to the one that I have on my desktop and I have it here and you are going to see it in action and there it is cranking away all the sensors just going inside my computer and just basically trying to tell me what's going on inside my computer. So let's wait for it to go, go, go, go and let me go ahead and just give you first of all a little overview of what is going on here. This is the part that I like to focus on, it's telling me all the different things here. I have three or four cores here. I have a dual core Intel Processor, mostly got mine in video chip and then a few other things here. Now these icons are now telling me something here. I have been running this computer for a long time today without actually giving it a break so you see these little icons here that look like fire telling me that it is a little bit faster than it needs to be so that is important to know and these here are saying o'kay you know what you are doing fine here. This one is a little bit low and 0 degrees is also a little below. This is in Celsius so you are going to need to do your math but regardless you know that it is running a little bit too fast so if that is the case you can go ahead and close down some programs, restart your computer, get yourself maybe a fan for your laptop or whatever it is you can buy those things where there is a fan that you just put right underneath it or do some other maintenance that is necessary to keep it cool and it looks like I need to take care of that myself. So o'kay so now we see here we see on my computer that my computer is running a little hot so that is going to be very important for me to know so I can take care of that and make sure to prolong the life of my computer. Alright well I hope you had as much fun as I did. Feel free to contact me at any time at dave@deyec, that's deyec.com and you can check me out on the web also at deyec.com. Thanks and have a great day."
