"We're talking about wireless cards for laptops. There are currently four SEC wireless specifications. There's ABG, and the newest one is the N specification. This particular card is an ABG card. And usually of those three, the BG specification is used most frequently. And all the specification means... it determines things like transmission speed, range, things like that. So when considering wireless cards for laptops, I would actually recommend you go with the N specification. I don't have an example, but the N specification essentially uses the barriers that typically cause transmission interruptions to actually relay the signal off of those devices. It actually gives you a better range. So if you're going to be looking to purchase a wireless card. Go with an N specification wireless card because in my experience, they've been better than anything else. And what you see here, on this particular card, you see the pins obviously where the device connects to your laptop. But then up at the top here you have two additional pins. These pins are actually where the power, or actually where the signal power comes from. Typically what you'll see is a white and black cable that connect to these two pins and these will usually run up the laptop lid to give you your antennae so to speak. These are usually labeled main and auxiliary. But those are the real simple components to a wireless card."
