"Today we're talking about how to connect two computers together through a hub. This right here is a very basic six port Netgear hub. And what I mean by hub is it just a very passive transfer of data. It doesn't do anything fancy other than make sure that everything can be connected. So in order to do this, you essentially need your two machines, your hub, and a network cable for each machine. So we're going to go ahead and hook 'em up and I'll show you how. First thing you need to do is find your network card on each machine. On these particular devices, it's an on board NIC. You just push the cable in until you hear it click. Once you do that, then you take your hub and plug your machine into your port on your hub. And then do the same on the other machine. And that's all there is to it. As long as your machines have IP addresses, then the should be able to communicate to each other for either network sharing or other purposes."
