"Hello. We are talking today about how to build a computer network system. A computer network system is in it's most simple form, very, very basic. You typically only really need three components, one would be a central device which would be what everything would communicate through. Now depending on the sophistication of the network, you could use either a hub, a switch or a router. In the instance of using a hub and a switch, you would then have to allocate DNS and DHCP to a third device as otherwise known as a server typically. Otherwise if you were to use your router, like this for instance, then you would be able to issue DHCP and DNS requests through the router thus removing the need to have a DNS, DHCP server. And if you are using a hub and switch obviously you would need to have a server. Now with a server, the most I guess essential pieces to a server that you see out there is you'll have a file server, a print server, a e-mail server and then in the instance of networking where you're using a hub or a switch, a DNS and DHCP router. And what that means is basically the router or the server depending on the configuration would issue DHCP IP addresses to your client machines and then resolve DNS queries on behalf of your network. And then the final piece which all end users would be concerned with would be the PC and that would be where you would issue requests or traverse the network to get to the server for files or to download your e-mail, things like that. So those are the three components to a computer network and if you were to build them, the easiest way would probably be to just use a router and a couple PCs."
