"Hey there! In this lesson we're going to check out a progression in the style of Blink 182. This lesson has two four bars sections that repeat. Pay attention to the palm muting and muted swipes that give a percussive sound. Also be sure to use only down strokes. Let's listen what it sounds like; three, four. Now this song is base mostly on rhythmic picking patterns, so I want you to pay close attention. First and foremost, I want you to use down strokes. This is going to give you a very aggressive and percussive sound, sounding like this. Now another technique that we're going to use is called muted swiping and this is when you take your fingers and place them across the strings without applying pressure; just deadening the strings and you get this sound. The final technique is going to be called palm muting and this is where you take the fleshy part of your palm and place it where the strings meet the bridge and then you pick a chord normally, sounds like this. In essence you're just muting the string with your palm. Now make sure that you keep it right the bridge because if you move it forward you'll lose all your tone. Alright, now let's listen at a slow tempo without repeats; two, three, four."
