Hi, my name is Charlotte Skiles. I'm a nutrition consultant, and clinical herbalist, with Eat in Peace Wellness Consulting, located in Austin, Texas, and today, I'm going to be talking to you about foods for a sore throat. There are lots of foods for a sore throat. The first one that comes to mind, is honey. Honey acts as a soother. It coats the throat, and makes everything feel better, especially when it's in a warm tea, so that can be very beneficial there. Soups, chicken noodle soup, any warm vegetable soup. The base of a chicken broth would be very soothing in there, too, and there are lots of herbs, that can help out a sore throat. Clove is a particular plant, that has a pain killing property to it, and so getting an herbal spray, with a little bit of clove in it, can certainly serve that purpose. Marshmallow root is another herb, that can very much coat the throat, and the whole gastrointestinal tract. It swells when you put it in water, and so it has that, what's called a mucilagenous property to it. Any soft food really, when you have a sore throat, you're clearly not feeling well, so you want to eat the foods that sound good, and respect your body, so potatoes of some sort, banana, anything that's soft and squishy. Thanks. That's what I have to say, about foods for sore throat.
