"Hi, I'm Kelli, I'm aesthetician and makeup artist at Ulta Salon and Cosmetics, and I'm going to talk to you today about moles and if they ever stop growing. There's many different degrees of moles, freckles are actually considered a mole, they're cause by hypo-pigmentation usually from UV or sun damage. Those typically are what we call flat moles, they don't really grow or expand, they can be irritating and lead to an uneven complexion but they don't necessarily cause us any harm. Other moles which can actually continue to grow and get larger, and those are the ones that we do want to be concerned about, those are ones that can become precancerous or cancerous and have to be removed. So that's why it's really important to visit your dermatologist at least once a year to make sure that they can take pictures and document the different various stages and growths of your moles and see if whether they're mutating or becoming cancerous. So some moles can continue to grow and they can actually become cancerous, which can be quite hazardous to your health, so it's very important to see a dermatologist at least once a year."
