"Hi, I'm Deborah DeMirza, and I'm at Deluxe, a resale clothing boutique in Eugene, Oregon. And today I'm going to show you how to pick the right hemline for pants. So it depends on the fabric that you're using and the cut and the tightness of the fit at the hem. If you have skinny jeans, you'll probably want to just do a folded up hem and then machine stitch it. And this will go pretty much right above the top of the foot. Or if you want it a little bunchy you can have that a little longer but it will still sit right above the foot, because it's obviously too narrow to go down over the foot. Whereas, if you have a pair of slacks, then you want the hemline to be a little longer in the back than in the front, when it's a little shorter in the front it has a nicer, smoother fit with less of a break, that means the bunching up over the front of the foot. Where the back can be a little longer to cover the back of the shoe. Now if you have a wider leg, so full or a big pair of bells, then you can have that hemline be much longer. The thing you don't want to do is have the pant leg touching the floor or the ground because eventually it turns into a ragged edge. And that's harder to fix in the long run, and have a nice look. So and also when you have a wider leg at the bottom it fits more - it fits closer to the ground on the front of the shoe without buckling. Or that break line. So that's how you can pick the right hemline for your pants."
