"Hi, I'm Debra DeMirza, and I'm at Deluxe, a resale clothing boutique, in Eugene, Oregon, and today, I'm going to show you how to measure the inseam of a pair of pants. The inseam is the inside of the pant leg, from the crotch to the hem, so what you need to do, is take either a tape measure, or a ruler, a yardstick, and you put the top of the tape measure, right at the crotch seam, right on this seam that goes on the inside leg of the pants, and without pulling the pant leg too tight, you can just gently smooth that all the way down the leg, so that you get a more accurate measure, and this part of pants, is twenty eight inches, the inseam is twenty eight inches, so when you're measuring the inseam on a person, it can be a little tricky, because of where it's located on the person, so what you want to do, is if you want to be a little more private about how you can do that, you can actually use a yardstick, so that you can get to the top of the inseam, without putting your hand up on the top of the inseam, or if you only have a tape measure, you can actually tape that to part of a yardstick, just the upper part of it, for six inches or so, and then you can use the rest of it, down the leg of the inside pant seam, to get the rest of that measurement, so that's how you measure the inseam of a pair of pants."
