All right, this is a neo-classical lick in the key of A minor. I'm going to use one string for the whole lick, the high E string and this uses what's called tremolo picking, which is very fast, alternate picking on one string. You can hear a lick like this at the beginning of Wasted Years from Iron Maiden. So I'm going to play this for you twice in a row at regular speed. Let's see what it sounds like. Two, three, four. Looking closely at this, you can see it's all on the high E string and you're going to tremolo pick which means fast alternate pick with your right hand in an up and down motion the entire time. And you're going to start with a fretted note on the twelfth fret of the high E string and then have four open, I'm sorry three open strings so it's a total of four notes. One, two, there, four. Doing the same thing but the fretted note will change, this time it'll be the tenth fret and the eighth, seventh. So far we have. And then you'll do it again. Down to the fourth fret. The seventh fret. Ending up on the fifth fret and just hit that note and let it ring. Remember, even though we're picking really fast, you want to have a rhythm to it, make sure that you're, your attack on the string is all even and that the lick stays to the tempo of whatever you're playing this over. I'll play it with our backing track now, twice in a row, slow and you can hear what it sounds like in context. Three, four.
