"Okay, this is a right hand tapping lick. We're going to do it in the key of A minor. Something that you might hear Eddie Van Halen do. Basically, this is an idea that repeats four times, and then ends with a tapping note with the right hand, so check it out at regular speed, two, three, four. If you've never tapped before it's really similar to doing a pull off with your left hand. What I'm doing here is I'm taking the middle finger on my right hand, some people use the index but I like to keep the pick in there, and I tap down on the twelfth fret of the high E string hitting it really hard and direct. Not kind of easing into it, but you want a nice solid sounding note. And then, after that I just hammer it with my pinkie onto the eighth fret. So, this pattern that... In this lick that we're doing here I'm tapping twice on the twelfth fret, then twice on the tenth fret. Then, I go to the thirteenth fret twice; back to the twelfth fret twice, and then start the whole thing over. I do it four times in a row, and then I end up on the tap note on the twelfth fret. Okay, I'll play it for you and with our backing track slowly, and you can see what it sounds like, two, three, four."
