"Hello. My name is Dr. Paul Kamitsuka. I am the hospital Epidemiologist at the New Hanover Regional Medical Center here in Wilmington North Carolina. The question about how to avoid the swine flu. The first and most important point would be to try to avoid exposure to people who are sick with influenza symptoms. Those would include fever, cough, muscle aches, headache, along with stuffy nose. If you have or you know about someone with those symptoms try to keep your distance; preferably about six feet or more distance. In addition hand washing is extremely important. So, wash your hands frequently. In addition make liberal use of alcohol gel sanitizers. In addition keep track of any public health advisories that are on the media. For example, it is currently recommended that people don't travel to areas where lots of swine flu has been seen such as in Mexico. So, the key things are to keep your distance from sick people, wash your hands frequently and also pay attention to public health advisories."
