"I think the biggest mistake people make when they're shopping for a diamond is they get caught up in whatever the ring's supposed to look like or the ring itself. And the value in the investment is actually in the stone and not the metal or the design. You want to concentrate on a nice grade of diamond, but not necessarily the very best color and flawless because if something came about and you needed to liquidate that at some point in time, you've got an extremely nice stone, but a very illiquid stone in terms of moving it again. So I generally recommend that they go with an F or a G in color, which is a very white stone, no yellow associated at all in the body color. And then a stone that is extremely well-proportioned so that it's very bright, very brilliant with some inclusion -- some internal inclusion, some minimalistic amount of inclusions that...so that it's not so expensive to start with, but you're still getting a very desirable, very salable, very marketable diamond."
