The touchdown rule is to score a touchdown you must get the ball across the goal line. The name of the game in football is scoring points. The team that scores the most points wins the football game. Now you can score in many ways, from your quarterback throwing a pass to one of his receivers or the quarterback handing the ball off to one of the running backs and they're crossing the goal line. Now the defense can also score a touchdown. They can pick the football up from a fumble and run it across the line or as a quarterback throws the football and if a defensive person intercepts the football, they can catch it and return it and if they return it across the goal line that's 6 points for the opposing team. Now touchdown, certain skills are needed when you're talking about scoring touchdowns. In the NFL a receiver must have two feet in the end zone if they're catching the ball in the end zone for it to be a legal touchdown. So there's different drills that coaches have the receivers doing as what we call the toe tap to make sure if both toes are down before they go out of bounds.
