"Hi! I'm Dr. Darren Adamson from Argosy University in Salt Lake City. We're here to talk to you a little bit today about toddler travel games. You know, traveling with toddlers is a very challenging thing to do and so it's great to have ideas about what you might be able to do to keep them occupied while you're traveling. Particularly if you're traveling for more than about an hour or an hour and a half and those really long trips. What do you to keep a toddler engaged? First of all, make sure you have plenty of their toys. Toys that are really handy that can be used in the car. Toys such as stuffed animals, any books that they might enjoy, toys that they can put in their mouths frankly because that's where toddlers want to put every toy that they get. So, having toys that they can play with is very important. I think also, music, toddlers love music. So, have a game where they get to sing, where they get to sing about what they see outside. You could also play the famous guessing game. Make it really simple like, I see something that's red,if the child has a red shirt on. I see something that's green because they have green shoes and let them guess, let them use their brains to guess. You can also and it's not as much of a game but it's very helpful in traveling with a toddler, put a video in your car so that you can play one of their favorite videos that keeps them occupied for the length of that time. I think also with toddlers, if you can sit back in the back seat with them where they're in their booster seat or in their car seat and read to them. Toddlers love to be read to, especially simple books that fit with their interests. I think also, just pointing out. Did you see that cow out there? What about that horse? Wow, look at that great, big truck that's driving next to us. Things that will, that will draw their attention, away from the fact that they're sitting in a seat that they're strapped into and they can't move. So, making sure that you have active things, active in terms also, not only physically but also active in terms of keeping their brains occupied so that they can relax and enjoy the trip as much as possible. That will make the trip a lot more enjoyable for you as well."
