"What are the positive effects of immigration? There are several. For one, immigrants do pay taxes. They pay social security taxes, sales taxes, property taxes. Immigrants also increase productivity and consumer demand, which lowers the cost of goods. Now, some might also argue that immigrants lower wages. There's great debate about that. And I wouldn't say there's anything conclusive on the subject, but this only as a standalone question, immigrants do help lower the price of goods. Also, they help start up new businesses themselves and attract investment capital from outside America. And often, immigrants revitalize cities that otherwise had been in decline. So that is one of the several ways...some of the several ways that immigration helps the American economy."
