"Hi! This is Casey Atkinson from Willie Driving School here in Logan, Utah. We're going to talk to you a little about stick shifts, also called manual transmissions. Now, manual transmissions are actually a lot safer, you have more control of the car, also you get better gas mileage with the stick shift. Another plus, if you had, if you break the transmission, it's cheaper to replace but let's talk about shifting. First things first, in order to start your car, you have to push the clutch in before you came in and turn on the key. Once you turn on the car, keep the clutch still down and put that in the first gear, then you can slowly release the clutch. Now, let's talk about shifting. So, you want to shift into the second gear, usually it's around 20 miles per hour and third is usually around 30 and so forth and so forth. So, start shifting, you push the clutch down, move the gear down to the second gear and then as you release it, make sure you release the gas in the pedal about the same time. And the same process goes for each gear. Once you get to the free way, you're going into the fifth or sixth gear and you just leave it like that, you're good to go. Also, be careful when you're shifting on hills, the cars would known to roll back. Make sure you're extra careful and be ready to break when that happens. Some people like to slow down the car, usually just by down shifting. Be careful when you down shift for there's no cars following too close to behind you except if you stop suddenly or slow down suddenly then like it's a ram riding the back of you. So, down shifting will slow the car down, just be extra cautious when you down shift."
