"Hi I'm Casey Atkinson with Willie Driving School here in Logan, Utah. Now with stick shifts the first thing you want to do before you start the car is you have to push the clutch in and then turn on the key. Now once the car is actually started then you want to put it in to first gear so you keep the clutch down and then shift into first gear. Then you are free to release the clutch. Now as far as other shifting goes for second gear and third gear and so on you want to push in the clutch, shift down then release the clutch as you release the gas and there you have it, that's how simply how you shift. Now it kind of takes some practice, make sure you go out and practice, practice on hills. It is difficult to shift on hills. Be careful you don't roll, start rolling back. Also some people like to down shift. Make sure when you down shift you check behind you and check for cars so no one smacks in to you just don't stop suddenly and don't slow down too much and good luck and happy practicing."
