"I'm Carole Wilbourn the cat therapist here in New York City. How to relocate with pets. Well you just found out that you are going to move, you and your cat and dog were living in an apartment and now you are moving into a house and it is going to be total culture chock. You are traveling by plane and they have been in a car before and that's been easy, it's been real easy because it is all you had to do is have your cat in a cat's carrier. The dog would sit right beside the carrier with his very own seat belt. You had some water there and the window was open a crack and everything was fine and one more thing you had the litter ox but now you found out that you're going to have to fly. Now this is something different. Let me tell you what you need to do. First of all call the airlines, find out what they need for you to have so that your cat and dog will be able to travel with you. There may be certain vaccinations. They will tell you and that will be great. Now the other thing is reserve space for you in the cabin. Do not let them travel cargo. They must go in the cabin so you will find the very right airlines that will allow you to have the two of them in the cabin with you. That will be fine. Remember no food or water for at least four hours before you get on the plane, o'kay? When you get off of the plane you can give your dog and cat water, that will be fine. Now pretty soon you'll be on your way to the new house. This you really want to avoid culture shock here so the best thing for you to do is to start them off in a small room with all their creature comforts. Make sure that you want your companion animals to have all that they need as they start their journey in your new home. You want to be the super guardian to your cat and your dogs so you are starting them off in a small room with all the creature comforts, the litter box, water and that will be great and slowly but surely you'll let them explore the rest of your home and it will all work out fine for the three of you."
