on 6/23/2009 Madam your village called for you, they need their idiot back!

The picture examples you illustrated ar all of POST_BELLUM manufacture,
I.E. the model 1873 single action Colt's revolver. IM sure Messers. Remington, Adams, Starr. Et. Al. would be surprised to learn that Samuel Colt was the exclusive supplier of side arms to both Armies. YOu are perpetuating the appalling quality of todays public education system in this country

on 6/21/2009 Wow! Does this person have any clue how they work? How the firearms technology effected combat and the war's outcome? What a "muzzleloader" actually is? No wonder our own children in America have no clue about the significance of their own history. As a museum educator, I find this an abismal example of the internet assiting education and should be either re-done correctly or taken off entirely! What she said here about firearms technlogy during the American Civil War conflict was just a bunch of misunderstood "terms" which had no context to one another and illustrate little understanding of the period. I am enbarrassed for her!

on 6/20/2009 Jesus Christ lady, if you are going to post an educational video spend a little time learning about the subject before you put your mouth in gear. It is very obvious you have no knowledge of firearms of any sort.

on 6/20/2009 This lady has no idea what shes talking about. The 3 main weapons of the Civil War where muskets and rifles, pistols and breech loading rifles. Not all of the guns during the time of the Civil War were muzzle loading arms, hence, breech loading rifles, like the sharps, and rifles that used more modern shell ammunition, like the Spencer repeating rifle. I have studied the Civil War nearly every day for the past 9 years and I've never heard of cavalry officers, or anyone else, that would bring a extra barrel, loaded, to put on their gun. The problem with that is, you could load your rifle much faster then taking off the barrel and putting the new one on. You have obviously never handled, let alone taken apart a civil war weapon of any kind. Springfield as a weapons manufacturing "company" for the U.S. Military has been around since the late 1700's, and made many diffrent versions of mu...

"Civil War guns. The Civil War is always a big topic for people who like history things. The guns were basically three different kinds, carbines, which were a rifle, shot gun, and pistols. They were based on the colt design. The guns that were used during the time of the Civil War all had to be muzzle loaded, and so they were very time consuming. And often times the calvary officers would take a pre-loaded muzzle, and attach it to the gun so that it could be faster to reload. Because as you know possibly a muzzle loading gun takes a long period of time, and a steady hand in order to get it loaded. At that time the Springfield rifle came into being, and was used pretty widely. As well as Gatlin guns were used for repeat action. But there was still a pre-primitive usage of different kinds of guns in the Civil War."
