"The staple, a small thing, and yet we use it so often. Those of us that have need for it really wonder about this item, because it is so practical. In King Louis XIV time a staple was invented, and it was each staple was inscribed with the king's name. Now that seems kind of silly today when we see the boxes of five thousand staples, and yet we look at the need for attaching paper to different things, and having stacks of paper that we need to fasten together. And there have been all kinds of paper fasteners that we have used. In 1860's the man that developed the staple that we pretty much use today sold his invention for a very small amount, and was never really even given credit for it. And now we often times use the staple, and other kinds of fasteners that use the paper itself has been experimented with. But at this point nothing has replaced the good old staple, and it is even used in Xerox machines. So we have a grand use for this very small insignificant item."
